Free VPN for iPhone and iPad, set up in minutes

The iPhone takes a free client and a link from a Telegram bot. No account, no email, a free trial first.

How it works on iOS

Install a free client from the App Store, ask the Telegram bot for the trial link, and paste that link into the client as a subscription. V2Box and Happ are two clients that read the VLESS link the bot issues. The service has no app of its own, and there is no account to create: no email, no password.

An iPad takes exactly the same steps and the same link. Because the subscription has no device limit, you can load it on the phone, the tablet and a laptop together.

The setup in order

  1. Open the App Store and search for the client by name. Check the publisher shown under the title and the date of the latest update before you tap get.

  2. Start the bot in Telegram and request the trial. The link comes back in about a minute.

  3. Long-press the link in the chat, copy it, and open the client.

  4. Add the link as a subscription, pasting it from the clipboard. The client then lists the five locations: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Singapore, Dubai and London.

  5. Choose one and switch on. iOS asks permission to add a configuration; allow it, and a small VPN symbol appears at the top of the screen.

What to know about the App Store

Which apps you can find depends on the store for your country, and those listings change without notice. If the first client is missing, try the second. If both are missing, the separate page on getting a client without the store explains your options. Do not install a profile from a website just because a page says it is a free VPN: a configuration profile can change how the phone treats your traffic.

Do not go by the system's built-in VPN settings alone. The built-in VPN screen in iOS supports standard types such as IKEv2, IPsec and L2TP, and a VLESS subscription link is not one of them. A client is what turns the link into a working tunnel.

Check that it is on

Before connecting, open a page that shows your address and note it. Connect, reload that page, and the address and country should differ. Do the same test on the hostel Wi-Fi, on Jio or Airtel data and, if you can, on the college network. A tunnel that works at home and not in the college can still be right; the network may be dropping this kind of traffic.

Switch the client off when you do not need it, since a tunnel on all day uses some battery.

Questions

Can I set this up on an iPad as well?

Yes. The steps are identical, and the same link works on the iPad because a subscription has no device limit.

Is there an app called after this service in the App Store?

No. You use a free client that accepts a subscription link, such as V2Box or Happ, and the Telegram bot supplies the link.

Does the iPhone need a Google or Apple account for this?

Installing from the App Store needs your normal Apple account. The link service asks for no account of its own.

Why does the VPN symbol disappear?

The client may have been closed by the system, or the connection dropped when the network changed. Open the client and connect again, or pick another location.

Can I pick an Indian location?

No. The five locations are all abroad, and the service runs no server in India.

Does the iPhone feel sluggish with the tunnel on?

Encryption and a longer route can add some delay, and the effect depends on your connection and on the location you pick. No speed figures are published here.
